BTÜ TÖMERTurkish Language Training & Examination Center
Turkish language training from A1 to C1, plus the official Turkish Proficiency (TDYS) and Level Placement (TSTS) examinations — delivered within Bursa Technical University.
Turkish training and official Turkish examinations
BTÜ TÖMER is the official Turkish language training and examination center operating within Bursa Technical University. We run the level-based Turkish programmes and administer the official Turkish examinations.
Our classrooms bring together international students preparing for undergraduate and graduate study, guest students on Türkiye Scholarships (YTB), exchange programme participants, and anyone who wants to learn Turkish on their own initiative.
Our courses are planned across five levels from A1 to C1 in line with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), developing listening, reading, speaking and writing in balance at every level.
Our Level System
- A1A1 · Beginner
- A2A2 · Elementary
- B1B1 · Intermediate
- B2B2 · Upper-Intermediate
- C1C1 · Advanced
Each level ends with an end-of-course exam; successful students move up to the next level.

Our programmes are built on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). New students begin at A1; those with prior Turkish are placed at the right level through the Level Placement Exam (TSTS).

A2 · Elementary
Communicating on familiar topics; describing your surroundings, plans and experiences using past and future tenses.
B1 · Intermediate
Fluent communication in school, work and travel settings; expressing opinions, writing short texts, and following news and presentations.
B2 · Upper-Intermediate
Discussing abstract and technical subjects; understanding academic texts and defending your ideas with reasoning, in writing and speech.
C1 · Advanced
Academic Turkish proficiency: analysing long and complex texts, the language of presentations and articles, full readiness for university study.

Successful candidates earn a certificate at B2 (70–79 points) or C1 (80–100 points).
TSTS · Turkish Level Placement Exam
An exam that measures your current Turkish level and places you into the appropriate level among A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1. Listening, reading, speaking and writing are each assessed out of 25 points, for a total of 100. University students are exempt from the fee.
Learn Turkish in the first Ottoman capital
Bursa is the first capital of the Ottoman Empire and a historic city on the UNESCO World Heritage List. You can learn Turkish in class and speak it the same day in the Grand Bazaar, in the courtyard of the Grand Mosque, or on the stone streets of Cumalıkızık.
